What is special about your lavender?

Our field was planted with cuttings from plants originating from the historic lavender fields of the Carshalton area. No other lavender, whatever it may say on the label, can be traced back to the original lavender fields which made this area famous. So our oil is totally unique.

Question 2

I’d like to visit the field – when is it open?

The lavender field is only open to the public during our harvest weekend in July. Unfortunately, we are not open to visit at other times. However, if you’d like to volunteer in the field we hold regular work parties. Occasionally we can accommodate visits from school groups or groups with a specific purpose (e.g. photography or painting) – please get in touch with us and we’ll see what we can do.

Do you allow dogs at your Pick Your Own Harvest event?

Our fields are within an allotment site and the allotment society have no dogs policy so we also have to abide by this. We only allow guide dogs over the weekend.

When can I pick Carshalton Lavender?

We hold an annual harvest in the last weekend of July, when you are welcome to come along and pick your own lavender. Take a look at our Harvest page for more information or email us at info@carshaltonlavender.org to be put on our mailing list.

Do you have a shop?

No we don’t. We sell our oil, floral water over the harvest weekend at the end of July and at different local events throughout the year including Carshalton Environmental Fair and the Frost Fair. If you are looking for products using 100% pure Carshalton Lavender oil or floral water then click here for a list of our registered stockists. Always look out for our logo when buying our essential oil and floral water and check ingredients listings to be sure you have the genuine article.

How can I get involved with Carshalton Lavender?

Carshalton Lavender is run entirely by volunteers – we wouldn’t exist without their help, and we love meeting new people. There are a number of ways that you can help out: volunteering at one of our regular work parties, adopting your own row of lavender, fostering some of our cuttings. What varieties of lavender do you grow?

Naming varieties of lavender is a difficult task and there is much conflicting information. In our field, we believe we are growing two varieties of Lavandula x intermedia called ‘Pale Pretender’ and ‘Seal’. For more information take a look at History of the field or Local history.

Are you the same field that is next to Oaks Farm, visible from the crossroads on the way to Banstead?

No. Carshalton Lavender is a not-for-profit community project situated on Stanley Road Allotments, Carshalton. We are sometimes confused with Mayfield Lavender, a commercial lavender site on Croydon Lane, Banstead.

Question 12

Do we need to buy tickets in advance of PYO Harvest 2023?

You do not have to buy tickets in advance. You can just turn up and pay at the gate.

We recommend that you do buy tickets in advance for a smooth and speedy entrance to the field.

Ticket holders will also receive automatic confirmation via email of how to find us, what to wear and what to bring, 48 hours before the event. Non-ticket holders can find this information on our Annual Harvest web page .
